What Prudence holds

Prudence is a privacy information management system. It holds the record of processing activities required by Article 30, the governance documents that evidence accountability, the open operational matters that carry a deadline, the risks and the measures that address them, and the reference records that the other registers cite.

Every register is built from the same executable schema, so a record behaves the same way wherever you meet it. It has a reference, a name, an owner, a state, a set of answers and a history that cannot be altered.

The overview screen

The overview is the dashboard of the programme. It states how many records are at risk, which pillars of the programme are healthy, which statutory clocks are running, and what the next work is.

Every figure on this screen is derived from the records themselves. There is no separate score to maintain.

The data protection context

The band across the top of the workspace states the context you are working in: the controller, the processor, the business unit and the data subject sets in scope. Everything listed below is filtered to that context, and new records inherit it.

Change the context and the registers, the gaps and the health figures all follow.

Finding your way

The left menu lists the programme views first, then the registers grouped by section: Processing, Governance, Operations, Risk and security, and Resources. The plus button beside the register title creates a record of any type.
